https://youtu.be/GNmLkooLbzM

At a distance of 1 km from Alampur Bus Station, Jogulamba Temple dedicated to Shakti is the prime religious attraction of Alampur. Being the 5th Maha Shaktipeeta, this place is highly regarded and very important religious site for Hindus. Situated past Balabrahma Temple, this temple was destroyed by Bahamani sultan in 14th century and the deity was moved to Balabrahma temple. The current structure was built in 2005 on original site and the deity was moved back to the temple. Adi Sankaracharya installed Srichakra in the original temple in 8th century which could not be recovered after destruction.

The temple complex has a main entrance with a tower, large open area followed by the main shrine. The main structure is built on an elevated platform with a large mandapa followed by the inner sanctum. Constructed in Nagara style, the architecture of original temple is followed to build this temple. There is a large water pool around the temple.

Jogulamba Temple is one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas, representing the upper teeth part of Goddess Shakti. As per puranas, Goddess Shakti was born as Sati and married Lord Shiva. Sati's father, Daksha, who hates Lord Shiva, performs Nireeswara Yagna (non-existence of Shiva) and insults Shiva. Sati, attending the Yagna performed by her father gets upset as her husband was being insulted kills herself. Enraged by this, Lord Shiva performs Pralayatandava holding the body of Sati and starts destroying the universe. Upon the request of all gods, Lord Shiva releases his Sudarshana chakra and cuts the body of Sati into 51 pieces. The body parts of Sati fell in different parts of Indian subcontinent creating 51 Shakti Peethas, among which 18 are considered Maha Shakti Peethas.

Tarakeshwara Temple | Hangal temple | Haveri | 12th century architectural marvel | Karnataka | India

Tarakeshwara Temple | Hangal temple | Haveri | 12th century architectural marvel | Karnataka | India | Lord Shiva temple | Ancient Siva temple | Ancient temples of Karnataka | Ancient temples of India

Located in the otherwise unknown town of Hangal, the Tarakeshwara temple is truly a fine example of the architectural marvel of our medieval times. The temple which is dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Shiva is assigned to the mid-12th century A.D. The name of the temple is derived from the Tarakeshwara form of Lord Shiva. Even though the credit of construction of this temple goes to the Kadambas, it was the Kalyani Chalukyas that made significant changes to make it into the form we see today. Location :https://goo.gl/maps/D3teQMSe5yxaNiD66 History and Legend of Tarakeshwara temple To begin with, the town of Hangal is believed to be the Viratnagar in the epic Mahabharat. Viratnagar is the place where the Pandavas took shelter in disguise during their Ajnatavas (Secluded living). The earliest known dynasty to have ruled the town of Hangal was Kadamba. The Tarakeshwara temple was the most significant contribution of the Kadamba to the history of the town. With Jainism gaining massive appeal in the region in the 12th century, this temple became the bastion for the Shaivites (the section of believers who worshipped Lord Shiva). It is interesting to note that the temple which is most prominently known for its architectural beauty also has a subtle element of engineering excellence associated with it. How to reach : By Air The nearest airport is in Hubli. If you wish to travel by air, you may have to fly to Hubli and then catch a bus or private cab to Hangal. By Road Hangal has well-connected bus network to the other districts of Karnataka. By Rail The nearest railway station to the temple is the Haveri railway station which is approximately 40 kms from the temple. Near by ancient temples/ Places : 1. Economic growth and politics in India and way forward.

Last 6 decades India has gone through economic growth and development. GDP has seen continuous growth in last 6 decades. However it was not systematic in nature. There were may components involved in this complex development process.

Want to focus on the political intervention and economic growth related issues :

Few facts to be noticed :

  • Only service sector is growing rapidly.
  • Agricultural sector is in decline trends comparatively.
  • Industrial sector is in decline trends comparatively.

Today some of these sectors are in declining trends because of political deadlocks on policy formation and governance. On several occasions real time benefit analysis was not in place and even it was in place bold decisions were not taken in right time because of political deadlocks.

Today service sector is growing since  PV Narasima Rao took initiative to open up the economy. In this case one should give the credit at the political will demonstrated during the same time. Post that 2G scam in India rattled the telecom sector which would have been biggest contributor to the faster economic growth through better connectivity. By this time digital India would have been emerged already. It is biggest opportunity cost.

Industrial sector is still in bad shape because of political deadlocks and scams and political leaders to take the responsibility. Industrial sector to supposed to support good number of jobs across. Huge opportunity lost .

Political deadlocks were not explained to the Indian public and kept the citizens always away from it.
May be strong media was not in place. Private media was not there and there were no competition to get the truth out.

Going forward Economic development  will be in place with following changes:

  • Citizens of new India now started asking questions .
  • New set of leaders are now answerable when it comes to their performance.
  • Digital penetration may bring good governance through new technologies.
  • Religion politics will take back seat compared to development mantra.
  • Good leadership style and efforts.

Thank You.

Water crises in Bangalore

Water crises in Bangalore

Water scarcity will be more in Bangalore soon. Ground water level is drastically started going down.

Following are the main reasons:

1. Number of lakes is disappearing in the city

2. There is no proper government regulation to conserve underground water which is natural

resource. Usage of bore wells is increasing.

3. Total surface area which can absorb the water is shrinking due to the construction activity.

Some of the methods to arrest water scarcity in Bangalore:

1. Existing water resources to be maintained.

2. Rejuvenation of dry lakes inside the Bangalore city area.

3. Government to monitor water harvesting and make water harvesting compulsory.

4. More greenery to be maintained by planting more trees. Comprehensive plan to be worked out.

5. More artificial lakes at outs court of Bangalore.

6. Educate the younger generation (schools & colleges) about the importance of water

   preservative techniques.
